ABC 23-08 CELLS FROM HELL (The Lab: 23/8/2001)
'Cells
from hell', or Pfiesteria, are toxic dinoflagellates that are slowly
invading southern waters. Their relatives in the US have cost that
country's fishing industry millions of dollars, and a team in North
Carolina have reported that the toxins can affect people as well as
fish - robbing intelligent adults of the ability to perform simple
arithmetic. Taylor Bildstein asks if we can control them these
mysterious
organisms.
