Suite à ma remarque, B. Carlier m'ayant posé la
question suivante : "Pourriez vous m'indiquer ce que vous, donc
un lecteur, avait compris de cette dépêche.",
j'accepte volontiers de le traduire rapidement mais il va de soit que
je n'en ferai pas une habitude.
"The department is
encouraging hunters to provide the heads of deer and elk within a
48-hour period for testing. There is no known relationship
between CWD and any other disease of animals or people. However,
state officials are encouraging hunters to follow precautions when
handling dead game. Hunters are asked not to consume any neural
tissue of animals, such as the brain or spinal cord, and to wear
latex gloves when field dressing dead game."
Le
département demande aux chasseurs de fournir les têtes
des cerfs (cervidés au sens large) et des élans (ou
wapitis aux USA) dans les 48 heures (après la mort) pour être
testées. Il n' y a aucun lien connu entre la CWD et toute
autre maladie animale ou humaine . Cependant, les autorités
encouragent les chasseurs à respecter certaines précautions
quand ils manipulent du gibier mort. Il leur est demandé de ne
pas consommer les tissus nerveux tels que la cervelle ou la moelle
épinière et de porter des gants en latex lors de
l'opération de dépouille.

ayant été un peu plus loin sur le problème de
la traduction des textes promed, je vous propose de traduire les
termes:
-corn
-elk
il me semble qu'en anglais et en
américain, ces mots ont des sens différents. Donc
dans le cas de Promed, le lecteur est-il informé et a-t-il
compris que Promed utilise le mot anglais ou américain?
pour l'usage en français, il faut aussi noter qu'il existe
l'élan et l'éland
nb: je recherche la liste en français des animaux ayant exprimé une CWD dans le monde, c'est à dire la liste des animaux potentiellement sensibles à cette maladie, ce qui est différent de la liste des animaux expérimentalement sensibles

Promed est un site américain donc la langue utilisée
est l'anglais américain.
Quant à la traduction
de elk ou moose ("Caution, moose crossing" lit on le long
des routes), c'est Elan (Alces alces), cervidé des forêts
nordiques des ancien et nouveau monde. Au Canada, on l'appelle
orignal me semble t-il.
L'Eland du Cap (Taurotragus oryx) est
une grande antilope que l'on trouve au Kenya, en Ouganda et en
Tanzanie.
C'est effectivement le problème permanent des
noms vernaculaires, source de confusion bien connue des naturalistes,
d'ou l'intérêt des noms scientifiques.

Confusion aussi des lexicographes. Si le Petit Larousse distingue
bien "élan" et "éland", les Petit
et Grand Robert ignorent complètement l'éland
d'Afrique. Quant à Littré, il confondait au siècle
dernier les deux espèces en la même forme orthographique
:
"ELAN (é-lan), s. m.
-Espèce de cerf
qui se trouve dans le Nord.
-Elan du Cap, un des noms
vulgaires de l'antilope oréas, appelée aussi
canna.
-Elan d'Afrique, l'antilope bubale.
-Elan
des Anglo-Américains, le cerf du Canada."
Cela
a donné l'occasion à Bernard Pivot d'égarer les
fanas de sa fameuse dictée. On trouvera plus bas, sous la
plume de Jean-Pierre Colignon, extraite du site des "Dicos
d'Or"

il me semble en
effet qu'un site qui se veut scientifique, comme Promed, devrait au
minimum respecter cela, le nom scientifique, au moins en
renvoi.
J'ai reçu un texte
superbe d'une canadienne. Aprés réception de son
accord, il sera mis en ligne, en voici deux extraits:

Il existe 38 sous-espèces de cerfs de Virginie, dont trois se
trouvent au Canada.
En langue générale, au
Québec et dans plusieurs régions francophones du
Canada, le cerf de Virginie est couramment appelé chevreuil.
Cet emploi est attesté dès 1613, sous la plume de
Samuel de Champlain. En Europe, chevreuil désigne un autre
cervidé (du genre Capreolus), de taille plus
petite; cette
acception du terme chevreuil prévaut en langue de spécialité
(nomenclature zoologique, par exemple). Le terme cariacou, présenté
dans certains ouvrages comme un synonyme de cerf de Virginie,
désigne
en fait quelques sous-espèces de cerfs de Virginie vivant en
Amérique du Sud (Guyanne française, Brésil,
etc.), particulièrement la sous-espèce Odocoileus
virginianus cariacou.

Personellement je trouverai pertinent que des démarches de
type A.O.C, par exemple utilisent les termes "blé des
indes" ( au québec bien sûr ), mais avec un *
renvoyant au nom scientifique.
En revanche
la dénomination " scientifique " devrait être
accessible à tous les maillons de la chaine, même les
maillons contrôles , exemple douanes. Ceci éviterait, à
mon sens, bien des problèmes. Il me semble que l'une des
erreurs qui a été faite est justement de ne pas prendre
le temps de créer des dénominations "
scientifiques " pour bien des produits. Un exemple éclairant
est , à mon sens, le terme farine animale.
le problème évoqué est complexe, car il
aborde:
-le nom scientifique des
espèces
-la dénomination
scientifique des produits
la dénomination
scientifque des procédés.
pour le point un, un mouvement modial existe: le GBIF, j'aimerai bien
accéder au rôle que joue la France dans cette struture
et comment accéder aux résultats
pour les deux autres points, si le codex semble l'acteur pour le
deuxième point, pour le troisième il me semble qu'il
existe un fou.

devrait avoir pour conséquence le "réajustement "
de l'ensemble des textes et réglements des partenaires de la
démarche, je sais que le problème est colossal mais il
